ABOUT THE HERAS SPR SERIES

The Athlon Heras SPR series is Athlon's modern take on the hunting riflescope, combining the needs of hunters with features usually found on target and tactical optics. Models in the range include the 2–12×42 and 4–20×50 on a 1-inch main tube, the 6–24×56 on a 30 mm tube, and the high-magnification 15–60×56 built for precision target shooting.

Reticle options cover both second focal plane (SFP) and first focal plane (FFP) designs, in MOA and MRAD versions. Depending on the model, shooters can choose between the AAGR1, AAGR2, illuminated APLR7, APLR9, APRS7, APRS8 and APRS9 reticles, or the fine BLR2 target reticle on the 15–60×56.

A defining characteristic of the series is its cross-over turret design: a locking windage turret protects wind settings from accidental adjustment, while the Precision Zero Stop system allows a reliable return to zero after dialling. Parallax adjustment starting at just 10 yards (approx. 9 m) makes the Heras SPR scopes suitable not only for centrefire hunting rifles but also for airguns and small-bore rifles used at short distances.

All models use Advanced Fully Multi-Coated lenses for bright images with true colour rendering, and the tubes are argon purged. Argon has lower thermal conductivity than nitrogen, which improves resistance to internal fogging when the scope is exposed to rapid temperature changes.

ABOUT THE MODEL (ATHLON HERAS SPR 15-60X56 BLR2 SFP MOA)

The Athlon Heras SPR 15–60×56 BLR2 SFP MOA is the precision target model of the Heras SPR family. It is engineered for Bench Rest, F-Class and any form of shooting where the goal is the smallest possible group, offering features at its price level that are typically associated with considerably more expensive target riflescopes.

The 15–60× magnification range allows the shooter to see fine target detail at long distances, while the lower settings provide a wider view for locating the target and observing conditions. The large 56 mm objective lens and Advanced Fully Multi-Coated optics provide the light transmission needed to keep the image bright at high magnification. The 30 mm one-piece main tube is made from aircraft-grade aluminium.

The non-illuminated BLR2 SFP MOA reticle is etched on glass and designed specifically for precision mid- and long-range target shooting. Its 0.018 MOA lines and 0.075 MOA centre opening keep obstruction of the target to a minimum, while 0.5 MOA markings on the horizontal and vertical lines can be used for holdovers, wind corrections and ranging. As a second focal plane reticle, it keeps the same visual size at every magnification; the subtensions are calibrated at 40×.

Adjustments are made in 1/8 MOA clicks, allowing very fine corrections to the point of impact — eight clicks move the impact by approximately one inch at 100 yards. Each turret rotation provides 10 MOA, and the total adjustment range is 56 MOA in both elevation and windage. The exposed elevation turret includes the Precision Zero Stop, and the windage turret features a pull-up locking mechanism. Both turret knobs can be reset to zero after sighting in.

Parallax is adjusted using the side focus from 10 yards (approx. 9 m) to infinity, with a supplied flywheel that makes precise focusing easier from the shooting position. The fast-focus eyepiece allows quick reticle focusing, and the scope is argon purged, waterproof, fog proof and shockproof.
