About the Marlin 

Marlin Firearms, established in 1836 in Connecticut by John Mahlon Marlin, began as a producer of pistols and derringers. In 1881, it ventured into lever-action repeating rifles with the Model 1881. A key development was the Model 1889, which featured a solid top that ejected cartridges from the side, enhancing safety. This "Marlin Safety" became a hallmark of its rifles. Throughout its history, Marlin has been known for its lever-action rifles, particularly the Model 336, introduced in 1948 and still popular today.

About the Marlin 1895

The Marlin 1895 is a lever-action rifle first introduced in 1895 and reintroduced in 1972. This model features a side ejection port, which became known as "Marlin Safety," allowing for optic mounts to be installed on the top of the receiver. The Marlin 1895 has a tubular magazine that can hold four to nine cartridges, depending on the model. It comes equipped with a cross-hammer safety for enhanced shooting safety, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for optic mounts with four holes—two on the front and two on the rear mounting surface. Possible barrel lengths for the Marlin 1895 are 419 mm (16 ½ inches), 470 mm (18 ½ inches), 559 mm (22 inches), and 660 mm (26 inches).

Mounting Instructions

Clean the rifle's receiver thoroughly with a cleaning fluid, such as acetone, to remove all stains, grease, and oil. Once the surface is clean and dry, verify that the screws fit both the rail and the receiver holes. Before mounting the rail, apply a minimal amount of thread-locking fluid (278 or 648) to the screws, avoiding any contact with the mounting holes. Carefully clean any excess fluid around the rail using the cleaning fluid. Using a torque driver, tighten the screws to the appropriate torque (up to 3 Nm/26.5 in-lbs).
